I usually never wear nail polish, but I plan to put some on tomarrow. I heard some nailpolishs were recalled a while ago because the chemicals from the nailpolish soak in through the nail and into the skin. And since the skin is an actual organ in the body, it would be harming the body. Any information about it?

But Kay, nail polish doesn't need to be approved before it is put on the market, and the epidermes it pretty much completely dead skin, but lotion still seeps through.

Unfortunatelly, there is no way to know for sure. Like you said, it doesn't need to be approved. Every brand is slightly different and they can put whatever they want in it. The good news is, once it's dry, it is pretty much harmless. (Well, your nail is not breathing anymore because it's basically covered in paint, but that's minor.) So it is pretty similar to handeling nail polish remover or acetone with your bare hands - not great, but since the exposure is pretty short, and the areas exposed are pretty small - just your fingers - it is not a big deal.

The worst part of nail polish is paint thinner, whichever kind they decide to use. On the scale from 1 to 4, the health threat of this type of chemicals is 1.

If you really want to know about each and every ingredient of nail polish - you need find out every chemical a particular brand uses and type in "MSDS for (chemical name )" into a search window. MSDS stands for Material Safety Data Sheets they are standard for every chemical lab in the US. But in reality, it is pretty safe, I wouldn't worry about it.

Polishes are completely safe to use on you nails. They no longer contain formaldehyde which is harmful. Use a good base coat if you are concerned about ingredients seeping into your skin. I would avoid cheaper polishes because they may contain something bad. I recommend OPI, Essie, or any other recognized brand name.

I actually sell nail products. Some people are allergic to formaldahyde. If you want to keep your nails pretty naturally I suggest you get a high quality nail buffer and some good cuticle oil.

it depends on your health, where you buy it, and what brand the nail polish is.
