Notice there are different spellings for Americans and British.

It's pronounced al-u mi-ni-em. In Australia and Britain aluminium is the name given to the mineral that's extracted from bauxite. In America they say aluminum. It's the same thing.

in the USA the spelling aluminum and pronunciation al.um.in.um is common.
In other parts of the word, like england and australia the spelling
aluminium and pronunciation al.u.min.i.um is used.

It's not the same word, one is aluminum and the other aluminium. The kitchen foil is aluminum. They're probably related, I couldn't tell you the definition of the other.

i'm sure it's pronounced differently all around the country (and world), but here in california we say "uh-loo-mih-nem" or "uh-loo-mih-nuhm." that's the foil stuff that is used in the kitchen.
