I am a leo and was with a number of Taurus partners etc over the years. Leo's like the lime light and need attention and flattery from all their subjects both new and old. I know that makes us sound very egostical but we also are very loyal and care about thoseto whom we feel close to.
He is tellin you the truth but you are opposites and this relationship is difficult to maintain over the longer term. If you both want it to work then it takes effort plus plus plus. You say you don't love him because you are different from him and him due to loyality doesn't want to hurt you. Suggest both of you sit down and talk it out. Could be a relationship of convenience where neither of you are happy. Need to work out what both your needs, wants and expectations are.
Good luck and it is not easy because emotions and feelings are involved.

The road to true love is rough and many couples don't make it through. Sounds to me like he is afraid of you two not making it through.
He doesn't want to risk losing you. The lion is scared and wants to stop the natural but emotionally difficult process of testing and fine tuning your love for each other.
