I have a scar that i've had for a couple months, maybe 3.. just right now i noticed a pain in it, kind of a numbing pain, and it hurts when i touch it.. Its on my shoulder, and its never happened before. Also its a burn mark, where a friend of mine thought it was just hilarious to drop a match on my shoulder, yeah, i know, i know, he's an idiot, blah. THe problem is i have other burn marks from cooking accidents, and some ive had longer that this scar, and the other ones havent done this? Its imflammed and slightly swelled. and huuurts. Could be infected. If it doesn't get any better, go to a doctor.

When in doubt, get it checked out :) Seek emergency care if unsure how serious it is. Someone mentioned cellulitis which in medical terms (took a course in medical terminology ;) is technically an inflammation of the cells, but it's actually an infection in the cell tissue and can lead to more serious complications if not taken care of.

Can you call your doctor and ask the answering service to have him or her call you? He or she may just tell you to go to the ER, but better to be safe than sorry right.

It very well could be infected. I would go to a doctor or at least get the pharmacist's opion on an over-the-counter med.

I agree with them. It sounds infected. Try using Bacitraycin on it. If it doesn't clear up, see a doctor.
