I liked the movie version as well. I though they could do so much more with the sets and the singing was great. The streets of New York (or the set) were much more interesting than the play. Although both versions are quite good.

I like both versions and I think Rosario has a better voice than Daphne; but overall I like Daphne's version of Mimi better. She seems to fit the part more.

The Broadway version was better, although I saw it after the original cast had already left. The minimalist staging and the compressed time of the first act made it much more edgy. Columbus' version was way too sanitized.

Most definately Broadway...it was meant to be a play not a movie and the writer was so into the play b/c it was his life and his friends...but both of them are wonderful I love Rent!

I enjoyed the movie very much...but think it should have been rated R not PG 13. My daughter's 14 and I will not let her see it.
