My husband wants to build our baby a crib. Has anyone ever built one? Did you use a patern or just from scratch? Any sugestions would be good. Thanks

I had one built, or, actually, I bought one that had been built by a man I knew, about 22 years ago. I think the man had a pattern because he built more than just the one I bought and sold them to whomever wanted them. I still have it, as a keepsake of my children's infancies. Sure brings back wonderful memories. Thanks for the memories. God Bless you. Oh, and tell your husband I wish him the best in his pursuits of building one. You both will be very glad he did. Again, God Bless you and be with you always.

Actually, I would be afraid to build one from scratch. Without the propper width between the rails and other things, a crib could be very dangerous. I am not an alarmist but I remember seeing on the news where a little boy accidentally hung himself. Maybe a good pattern would be the way to go if he wants to build one. Best of luck.

I never have. However, I know of a good safety tip. Get a pop can, if you can pass a pop can through the crib rails then they are too far apart, put them as close together as possible for the safety of your baby.

I put one together, but I think building one would be a lot of work. You'd have to be really skilled in wood shop.
