I am planning a trip to Greece this summer. We are thinking maybe 2 or 3 days in Athens to see the major sights and then off to an island. The question is what hotel and sights in Greece, and what island will be the most family friendly. We are pretty low maintenance, but we can't do hostels or anything like that. We prefer Marriot, Hyatt Hilton or at least Holiday Inn.

Hotels are graded for you, plus you can look at the images to have an idea of what's suitable - since this very subjective. I threw in some links like Santorini , Mykonos - but as you know there are thousands, so i guess take your pick.
So long as you're outside the big cities and the major nightclub areas, folks are very sincere and friendly.

It all depends on what you like to do and how deep your pockets are. all those hotels exist in Greece and they are indeed pricey.
Sights? Take your pick. A lot of antiquities of great import,, museums and fantastic landscapes. See Meteora, Delphi, Nafplion just to name a few. Greece is the largest small country in the world with 3000 islands and high mountains as well.
