I purchased one this summer and left it in the front of the yard. It was a rainy summer and the plant thrived. bought it indoors, and it started loosing leaves.
Thru trial and error, I found out that it likes lots of water, (water well at least once a week, and buy a plant water guage for it to test the water moisture in the soil )and mist its leaves at least every two weeks.
Once u do that, it will actully start sprouting new leaves and will thrive well for you
Make sure that once u test with the water guage, that the numbers stay between 3 and 4. Under that, the leaves will start falling off. Its such a beautiful plant

Sounds like the plant has been left in the cold for some time, so you could lose alot of leaves. Keep it out of drafts, don't over water and make sure if gets some sun everyday.
If all the leaves fall off, cut the stem down, water sparingly and wait for the new growth.
