When do you apply rock salt? Before, after, during?

Al of the above. You use it beofe so it wont get ice on it, you use it during to keep the little ice away. and after to get rid of all of the ice.

Wait at least until there's some snow on the ground and spread. If the snow keeps accumulating, remove the snow and add more salt. If the wind picks up, you'll need to do this more.

i never thought that stuff actually worked, but it does! i'd put some on, let it work, shovel up the ice, add more ice melt/salt.
