how to know when a lizard is pregnant?

Lizards don't get pregnant, They lay eggs and you need a male lizard to fertilize them or they will not hatch. Lizards are not mammals and only mammals get pregnant and carry their offspring inside of them.

It will start eatting less and it's stomach will get fatter evenually you may see the shape of the eggs through the skin. She may lose weight around her pelvic area. Lizards mate then the eggs form inside the female. They do not lay them then fertilizer. Reptile also do not need a male to produce eggs, like a chicken can produce eggs without them being fetile, same thing. Make sure if your lizard doesn't lay all her eggs within 24 hrs you see a vet ASAP because if you don't she will die from being egg bond.

holy crap lets get technical pregnant is pregnant. we refer to female lizards as being gravid this is an acceptable term though gravid is actually a female human who has never been pregnant. gravida is a female who has had a live birth. anyways unless you actually witnessed the mating or she is laying unfirtilised eggs it is difficult to tell early on. what kind of lizard is it? obviously growth in the lower region of the body by the hips. manerism may change etc. take it to a vet is the only sure way or wait.
