You're probably wondering why they're in their crooked. It's so the needle will point straight up at a preset shift point. That way the driver knows with a quick glance that if the needle is straight up, it's time to shift. A lot of the gauges are like that, so when they're reading normal they point straight up. It's much easier for the driver to check them that way. He knows that if they're not straight up, there's a problem.

facorty ones are in the dash becouse thats where the other guages are, racers mount it up on the dash becouse its easier to see there than under the dash

so they can see them without taking eyes off of track.
