I'm attempting to write a story and have a vampire as the main character. I noticed (of course it was pretty hard to miss) that the vampires' eyes are different that a normal living humans. Why is that? And how would you be able to describe them???

Thanks in advance!

Many say that the eyes are the windows to the soul. Considering that most vampires are considered souless and damned I would suggest hollow eyes perhaps like orbs. This is also dependant on whether you are using romatic vampires like bram stoker's or the classical vampire such as Nosferatu. If you are doing a romantic type of vampire I would perhaps suggest cunning cat like eyes that may dull when the vampire is hungry. If you are going with a more sinister Vampire, you cannnot go wrong with black or red irises. Hope this helps and good luck on your story.

You should read some books that have vampire relations in them. They tend to describe a lot of the face's features. I'm not sure, but the eyes are usually mentioned as "piercing" and "vivid" with lots of solid or sparkly colors. Kudos to you for attempting to write something with vampires. They rock.

They're eyes are dilated and yet the colors are very bright. Once your eyes are dilated, you're dead already. In this Anne Rice version of the myth, vampires are very beautiful creatures -- eyes, hair, built.

piercing, fierce, striking, cold, mesmerizing, hypnotic...

Just some suggestions. I'm not a writer, but I do love Anne Rice's Vampires.

Their eyes are different because they are the undead, and walk only at night. Their eyes are similar to cat's eyes, as a cat can see at night also.

So haunting, once you gaze into the glowing eyes your sucked in. It's the only thing you can focus on. You love the feeling but it could kill you. Identifies to smoking!
