yeah it's called an rj-45 port.

Looks very similar to rj-11 (standard phone jack) with slightly larger head.

Also double check that the drivers for the network are installed properly...in device manager you should see network interface device and listed as working properly

Yes the 10/100, that's the ethernet card, it looks like a phone jack but a little bit bigger, so go ahead and get your DSL you will have not problem at all. Good luck

Ask your computer (PC only):
1. Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information
2. In System Information, Open :Components > Network > Adapter
3. You see a list of all your adapters, check this list for "Adapter Type" (second item after "Name"). If you have an Ethernet card, it will say so there.

Judging on your description, I think the"mag jack thing" indeed is an Ethernet card.

The 10/100 with the big plug is ethernet. You will need a rj45 cable to attach the pc to the modem supplied by your provider, The cable should come with the modem.

If you have 2 different size-looking phone jacks, the smaller one is the phone jack and the larger one is the ethernet...... they look the same but one looks a little larger and takes a different cord.

Most desktop computers have had motherboards for ages that have integrated ethernet functions. See example pic in the source and check if your system has such a port (it should).
