it is a top load white westing house ive checked the belt looks good when on the wash cycle makes buzzing noise but does nothing please help

motor just makes noise when washing but it will spin the clothes fine if we put it past washing

Sounds like a solenoid (switch) is not effectively providing power to the motor to run. (Do you hear the motor running?) That is probably a hard suspect to troubleshoot -- besides being hazardous. Can you read the electrical diagram on the back panel of the washer? (You probably have to remove the back panel to access it. It usually CAN provide a wealth of info.]

try a different cycle, like heavy duty or light duty. If it works on other cycles it is most likely the timer switch.
