It is a pretty neat concept. As a borrower, you enter your SSN, your financial information, how much money you want, the interest rate you are willing to pay, and a story of what you plan on using for.
The website will run a credit check on you and post your credit information. Individuals on the website lend money to people, with a minimum investment in the loan of $50. The website takes all the "bids" and puts them together to finance your entire loan. If the number of bids and amounts they bid exceeds the amount you are requesting, the web site takes the bids at the lowest interest rate.
At this time, I believe all loans are 3 year loans. You can pay them off early if you like. If you default on the loan, the loan will be sent to collections and appear on your credit report just like any other loan.
Check it out. It may be worth a try. The website makes a little more sense if I didn't do a good job of explaining it.
