coz my friends and I used Coke and baking soda for this. and her silver bracelet turned to gold. why did the color changed even though the real color of the bracelet is silver? pls explain. thanks!

yes silver can turn into gold because of the chemical reaction u did wit the coke and baking sodawhen they mix they make a strong chemical so tht affectedthe braclet 2 become a gold braclet because chemicals r so strong tht they can change anything like soda

Silver and gold are two distict elements. A silver material can be turned into gold only through a series of nuclear reactions, since a direct convertion through a single nuclear reaction is not possible.

well you could get some silver, and shoot some protons and netrons to collide with the silver and you will change the element from Au to Ag. You should also learn some of the laws of Alchemy and the rules of equivalent exchange. ONe more thing before you do this. If the goverment finds out your making gold using alchemy, you will be in big trouble. Bye Bye

Most likely you tarnished the silver or coated it with the Coke.
There is a kit for gold electroplating on ebay.com and HSN.com used to sell one that they use to coat their quarters gold and sell them.

It's probably a cheap silver plating and you revealed the 'base metal' (usually a copper alloy) underneath.

When silver is slightly tarnished, it has a golden color. Silver tarnish is brown; if it gets very tarnished, it looks black though.
