Love usually starts as a crush, but not all crushes turn into love. Even if you have a good trusting loving relationship with someone, it doesn't mean you won't have random crushes so you have to be prepared for that. I remember a girl that was a college freshman and I thought she was cute but I didn't do anything about it and never even tried to meet her. I didn't even remember that on that weekend orientation retreat where I first saw her, she put her sleeping bag down next to mine in the lodge where we all sacked out. And I certainly didn't know that she asked her cousin (who I knew) about me and was told to steer clear because I had a reputation for loving and leaving (I must add, undeserved). A year later, she maneuvered herself into a party for my 21st birthday. Who do you think had the crush? That's when she hooked me. Three years later, she landed me. We had a child, and my wife died.

All these years later, after all the turmoil of single parenting (let me tell you, teenagers can be a real pain and don't ever appreciate the efforts you make to keep them from screwing up their lives until much later), she paid me a surprise visit tonight. We talked and joked and laughed and confided some things. She's a young professional now. Her mother would be proud. I know that I am. We've had phone conversations where I told her things about her mother that made her cry, but it was good because she knows her mother was loved and respected. What was the question again? Oh yeah, it was about crushes turning into love. We had talked about who had the power in the relationship after we married because it's usually the more emotionally involved person that has the lesser power. She was convinced that I had the power. I knew all along that if it wasn't a tossup, she had it.

No! No! No! It can turn into an obsession and your expectations of the person you have a crush on might not think of you in the same way and you'll become hurt in the long term. If the person you currently have a crush on also felt the same way about you fine. People have crushes on other people all the time even when in relationships. People have crushes on actors or singers and sports stars and put up pictures of them on there walls go to there movies, concerts or sporting events. Some people who have crushes embedded so deep eventually begin to stalk the people they have a crush on thinking they too must like or love them as much as they do. Watch the Steven King movie "Misery" as a reference to this what I told you.

Definitely! It might take some work, but who knows. And if it doesn't work out, remember, it's called a crush for a reason.

Of course. For example, my hobby of crushing kittens became a love.

if what you are feeling cannot be rationalized, and you smile at the mere thought of him, and you laugh for no apparent reason,....it is turning into love.
