Okay, I have an old yamaha acoustic guitar that is missing five of the six strings and all the pegs that were holding the strings in place. I need it to be restringed. Does anyone know about how much it will cost? And could I bring it to a music store to have it done, even though the pegs are missing? Also, will they tune it for me there?

you will have to buy new pegs and 6 new strings. the cost will depend on what kind of strings you buy they will cost about 6 to 20 dollars though. the store will probably do it all for you. you want to get light strings for your acoustic so you dont warp the neck.

Restring Acoustic Guitar

You could restring it for the cost of the strings, which would only be about ten dollars. I imagine a music store would do it for a small fee. However if your guitar has been without strings for an extended period of time, the neck may have bent due to lack of tension. If so, the instrument would require repair.

Yes, A music store can fix, tune and replace your missing strings. I'm thinking strings costs anywhere from a buck a piece or so.
Call the nearest music store and ask for a pricing.

Sometimes you may need to push down the peg during tuning to make sure it's seated correctly. Especially true with plastic pegs that are a bit small for the holes (which is the norm with cheaper instruments). Getting new pegs is cheap and easy, just get some rosewood or ebony ones. Shouldn't cost more than €25 or so for a set.

First of all, I'd just about bet you can get the replacement pegs-they're just cheapo plastic...no big expense there. As for the strings, you can get a pretty decent set for between $5-$10. I have no Idea what they'll charge for restringing it, but yes, tuning it is part of restringing it (unless you're tone-deaf, then who cares, right?). If you have a $20 to burn, I'd say you're safe.

try to buy a good brand of guitar strings. ernie ball strings cost around $6-8 for 1 set(EBGDAE). d'addario would cost almost the same. and yes, if you wanna tune your guitar properly(if you dont have an electronic tuner) bring it to the shop...if you buy strings from them im sure they'll hook it up for free. cheers guitar freak!

The strings are like 5 bucks for a pack of them.

If I were you I'd just buy the stuff and fix it myself, it will be way cheaper. It's pretty easy to string a guitar.

string prices are anywhere from 6.00 to 12.00 and if you need someone to do it they usualy charge a small fee but some one might do it free if you ask around if you have the strings that is.
