y varies directly as
Therefore y=kx,where k is a constant
putting the valus of y= -8 and x= -3 in y=kx
-8=k*-3
k=-8/-3=8/3
So when y=6,
kx=6
=>(8/3)x=6
=> x=6*3/8=9/4
