My advice is talk to your English teacher about how you can improve on your essays. Believe it or not, writing takes practice. The more you write, the better you'll get. Everybody goes through this with writing. Please see your teacher for help and she'll appreciate that you have the interest to get better and/or see some that can help you with writing. When you write an essay , the beginning should have a thesis and with the thesis, pick 3 points you want to focus on and elaborate on the 3 points in separate paragraphs as you write the paper. U can e-mail me and I will be happy to help. Klm4k8@umkc.edu

Practice, practice, practice and get advice from your teacher and maybe even a tutor. The practice should include using correct spelling and grammar, i.e. no "u r" or "skool." You should also try using correct grammar when you speak. Good writing and speech tend to go together. Also, don't expect miracles overnight. Good essays are the result of years and years of practicing good writing and speech habits. If you haven't been taught, you can't be expected to perform. I know that some current thinking says that you learn to write by writing. However, I was taught by "old school" teachers who first taught us good grammar and then taught us to apply that knowledge to our writing.

j has listed the best out line for writing essays, but what helps me is a couple of different books that focus on essay writing.
It called "English The Easy Way" - this is for general tips and such -- great for developing writing skills and the book "Writing The Eay Way" is great for developing essay writing skill.

Good Luck

Whenever the topic is given to you, try to write about something you enjoy, or find ways in which to make the topic relate to you personally so you can reference your own experiences. Imagne you are writing it at first as though you are writing a note to your friend on the subject and you want to explain it to them, and then go back and edit later. Put it on here and have people proofread, I see lots of amazing essays come out of what people put on here and ask help on...

If you are allowed to chose your topic; write what you know. That way its more you and less what you might just copy and paste from the internet. Spend time on it and make a rough draft and final copy. Write about things that you like, intrest you or you are good at. Once your intrested in your topic, writing the essay will be funner and less of a chore.

Every good essay should contain the following parts:
1. Outline of the topic
2. Introduction
3. Thesis
4. Body (Consist of 3-6 Paragraphs)
5. Conclusion
OUTLINE
Topic Idea
A. This idea about topic
1. Info to support this idea
2. Statements to verify this idea
B. This fact about topic
1. Specific info to verify this fact
2. Statement from an expert on your topic
C. This information about topic
1. Statistical information on topic
2. Important dialogue about the topic
INTRODUCTION/THESIS
The first paragraph includes the introduction and a thesis statement. The introduction should captivate the reader's attention and give an idea of the essay's focus. You may start your essay with an attention-getter such as a bit of fascinating information, captivating dialogue or an interesting fact.
Start with a few sentences that explain your topic in basic terms and lead into your thesis statement. Each sentence of your opening statement should become a bit more specific, until you reach the thesis statement.
The thesis statement tells the reader what the essay will be about and what points you will be making in your essay. Your thesis statement should state the subject of the essay, explain the point of view the essay will take or describe the ideas on your topic that you determined in your outline.
BODY PARAGRAPHS
The body paragraphs will explain your essay's topic. Each of the main ideas that you listed in your outline will become a paragraph in your essay. If your outline contained three main ideas, you will have three body paragraphs. Start by writing down one of your main ideas, in sentence form.
If your essay topic is a new university in your hometown, one of your main ideas may be "population growth of town" you might say this:
The new university will cause a boom in the population of Fort Myers.
Build on your paragraph by including each of the supporting ideas from your outline.
CONCLUSION
The conclusion serves to give the reader closure, summing up the essay's points or providing a final viewpoint about the topic.
The conclusion should consist of three or four convincing sentences. Clearly review the main points, being careful not to restate them exactly, or briefly describe your opinion about the topic.

haha, that's funny.
Maybe you should write jokes instead of essays.

"J" seems to have a good answer. Use her advice.
