Some insane answers here! Ok, I know about this subject ALOT lol. You will get the most accurate result if you test the day after your period is due. If you are anxious to test, then you can test 5 days before it's due with alot of the early tests out there like First Response and Clear Blue Digital. But you are risking a false negative that way. And while they SAY first morning urine is the best to test with, during my pregnancies, I always had better luck if I tested in the early evening. Good luck and I hope that things turn out how you want!

If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

Many home pregnancy tests claim to be 99% accurate on the day you miss your period. But research suggests that most do not consistently spot pregnancy that early. And when they do, the results are often so faint they are misunderstood. If you can wait one week after your missed period, most home pregnancy tests will give you an accurate answer.

In the morning during your first pee after you miss your period. However, some pregnancy tests can detect pregnancy hormones as early at 5 days before you miss your period. But the best time of the day is in the morning when the hormones are most concentrated in the urine.
