Why are there so many time-outs in basketball but only one per game in hockey?

cuz hockey really isnt about time management like football or basketball...same reason there isnt time outs in baseball...if ur down by two going into the third in hockey then u have to intermission between 2nd and third period to get ur act together...whereas basketball is all go till half time then all go after that
