I am an african american woman who gets treated very badly by people of my own race. I can't go out anywhere without black people treating me with disrespect. Black people treat me poorly because they don't like the way that I look. They say that I am ugly and that I look mean. I am a very nice per If I do look mean its not purposely. Even when I do smile and try to be nice them to show them that I am actually a nice person it doesn't help. They just can't get pass the way that I look. Strangely, I don't deal with this from white people. White people are always nice to me. They are very helpful to you when you need, very polite, and they treat you with respect. White men are more curtious and respectful to women than black men are. White men open the doors for you unlike a black man who will only open the door for a woman who he feels is attractive. I don't know why people act the way that do. If you were me and you were treated poorly by your own race, would it botheryou

Angel r, for a minute there I had some doubts you were black based on the tone of this paragraph..

Anyway, why are you so insecure with yourself because people of your (our) race are unkind? That should have no bearing on how you feel about yourself. From your question, you are feeling touchy based on comments made about you from other black people. People will be people, you just have been lucky enough not to encounter some real racism. Hell for all you know (since you say you are not that nice looking), the whites probably feel sorry for you based on your looks so they treat you nicely and the blacks just cant stand the look upon your face, so they get rude. And from that standpoint, it is NOT called being courteous. If I was treated poorly by my own race I wouldnt give a damn, quite frankly, because obviously its not you, but rather them that has the issues.

FYI-I went out last nite and I overheard this white dude called some white woman a ********* and I dont even think he knew this lady..she called him a c.o.c.k.sucker and I was looking at them like what the hell is this...

Anyway, I think the problem is YOU and not THEM, learn the art of ignoring. Other peoples feelings shouldnt have any bearing on how you feel about yourself. That is ludicrous...How old are you?

Wow Angel, I'm sorry to hear that. Being a Black Man let me be the first to apologize for the behavior of some of the brothers I share this race with. Black women are some of the most under valued creatures God created. The strength, the beauty, and before I read your question the loyalty. I love black women with a passion, remember the shirts that said "Love, Respect and Protect the Black Woman?" I don't know how old you are, but those were my days and they are my feelings. Keep you head up smile and stand by the ignorance of SOME black men, we are not all alike.

"White men open the doors for you unlike a black man who will only open the door for a woman who he feels is attractive."

"White men are more cautious and respectful to women than black men are."
hm mm I think I know why your treated like this, but whatever

I have experienced something similar because I don't dress "Hip Hop" or "Black". At the same time I had common sense to realize not all black people are like that, so this never hurt my self-esteem. In my personal experience white people will turn on you in a heartbeat and black people are more loyal friends.

That's kinda unfortunate, people of your own culture rejecting you just because you look different. I could relate almost none of the people in Nicaragua ignore me because I'm partially whited skin but I never let that get me down, the people who love you for being you that's what only matters to me.
