I could not find the date on the coin

seated liberty halves, made from 1839-1891. unfortunately, with coins, condition is everything. the date should be on obverse(front) bottom center, just below liberty figure. if you cannot make out the date, it has minimal value. value less than $15.00, more likely value is silver content melt value (about $5.00).

this is tough luck, some of these coins , in excellent condition, are very expensive and collectable.

Even without any date visible, you can still tell the period a Seated Libery Half was made by looking at the varieties such as position of motto above the eagle, arrows beside the date, rays behind eagle, etc. But in very worn condition, only traces of such varieties may appear. Seated halves without a date visible are normally considered as coin album space fillers, and worth only the silver bullion in it or slightly above bullion due to coin type unless it belongs to a scarce variety identifiable. A common date Seated half in very worn condition with the date visible is about $20 to $25.
