Widow spiders are not known for their jumping ability. They use webs to catch their prey. Jumping spiders have powerful legs which none of the widows have. Widow spiders are not large spiders. A big one would be about 15mm across the abdomen. The legs add to the size.

jumping takes muscle, and legs have muscle of some sort, since it takes a muscle to move the leg. However, other people are right, jumping takes power. I don't know the anatomy of a Black Widow, however, if you scared one bad enough, I bet it would move, and that could be anyway it could, so I wouldn't test it if I were you, cuz if it could jump, and it jumped on you, the next move would be a bite, and you don't want that!

Anatomicaly Black Widows have evolved to build webs and not for jumping.

They are large spiders reaching about 1.5" ,for femailes, the males are half their size, can injects a very powerful neurotoxin, however black widows are very timid spiders and are not known to agressively bite humans. Surprized?
