What's the deal with the man bag? If it’s convenient and comfortable (and as a guy who has to carry loads of things on him, I can’t imagine it not making life a lot easier!) why are Americans so against it? Is the majority of the nation that insecure about our sexuality, or is there some better reason we avoid something that to me – seems perfectly reasonable?

Why aren't our designers catering to this largely untapped need and why aren't more men being man enough to carry bags without being afraid of what people will think?

Maybe a lot of people are against it, as you said, is because we have the permanent image that women are the ones with purses and bags, to carry their belongings, whereas men don't have much to carry. Well since the world is becoming more complex and such, men and women both have more things to carry I guess. But I think half the time it's because people think it's out of the ordinary, or afraid of change, in a way. I'm not really against it, it's just it's not too often that you see a man carrying a man purse, or man bags. But you never know, because it's partly a fashion statement for a guy to go and wear one, maybe the world will turn their backs on the original ways and turn to new choices. It's just the way things happen I guess.

Personally, I'm with you! There is such an untapped market that it is shocking and dispelling! I prouldy tote my Louis Vuitton & Perry Ellis "manbags" to work, school and grocery shopping! It is just far to convenient to have everything on hand. And today's man has to have many resources available at a moments notice and our bags allow us to be!

Insecurities and stereotypes are something that needs to be gotten over in a hurry! Bring on the high fashion, form and function of the man bag!

If it doesn't fit in your pockets, you don't need it.

Women have tons of crap they don't need, including the purse they use to haul it all around in.

The truth is, our "designers" try about every 5 years to sell make up, hair product, shower puffs, etc to men. And men know they don't need it and refuse to waste their money on it. I don't know why it is so easy to convince women that they "need" all the lotions, creams, make up, and other crap they keep in their purses. But it is, and "designers" will continue to comit fraud to rip them off, as long as we allow them to.

I have a family friend and he used to wear a fanny panny around his waist, that is a fashion no no. So he now carries a bag, and it looks great, manly and i think its o.k.!
