Bonham is probably first place, then Keith Moon, both dead. I think Alan White is very underrated though.

Neil Peart from Rush is considered by many, to be the best drummer ever. He is a very technical on the drums and plays a lot of difficult beats. I think Lars Ulrich of Metallica is really good, although not the best. Also you might want to check out Scott Rockenfield's (Queensryche) drumming on Operation Mindcrime. This is the best drumming I've ever heard.

John Bonham...but there are a lot of good ones...I still like the fact that Dave Grohl could be a drummer for a mega band like Nirvana, then record all the parts of an album himself on the foo fighters first album, and be successful with that band being the front man...that is impressive

Every professional drummer who is any good will tell you Gene Krupa was the best drummer who ever lived. And, in my opinion second was Pearl Bailey's husband, Louis (for the life of me his last name escapes me) ... but he was almost a clone of Krupa.

everyone else comes in third.
