I am frustrated with all the negative reviews that I constantly read about the apartments in and around Orlando. I KNOW there are good palces as well as bad. I need a few good reviews. We are moving there in April and visiting in March to look at apartments/areas to live. We are concentrating a little NE of Orlando in the Winter Park, Avalon Park areas......Can anyone offer good, honest advice about these areas and apartments in the area? Or suggestion of other places in that area that they think are good. Please, if all you want to tell me is not to move , PLEASE do not...WE ARE moving, it is work related. I know everyone has a different opinion and that is cool...but right now I really just need some positive feedback! Thanks so much!

Whatever you do avoid Metrowest. It's a nice/nice looking area but there are some low income areas very close by and so there's a lot of crime coming over from those areas.

I like the Lake Buena Vista Area....very nice, secluded - not heavy traffic right by Disney World and not far from other attractions. High property values = nicer neighbors. Plus depending on where you are, you may be able to see the disney fireworks at night. However, it may not be super-close to the NE, if that is where you are going to be working.

Avoid apts near/ off John Young Parkway or Pine hills areas. High crime. Also avoid apts off of University Blvd...college crowd, noisy lots of parties and sometimes crimey.

If you are considering Oveido or Avalon park areas, also consider Maitland or Altamonte Springs...They are more W of AP and Ovei. but they are nice areas with good apt and prices and 434 and 436 are 2 roads that can get you NE quickly (depending on where NE you are going).

That's as specific as I can get. Hope this helps.

Depending on the area you want to move too means everything. Here in FL one side of the street could be real nice then right across the street could be the crappiest place in the area. Winter Park is a nice older area but expensive, Avalon Park I don't know anything about (sorry), but here is a website that could be helpful in your findings. http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/FL.html It's where past or current residents write reviews about their stay in an apartment, It's nice but at the same time a lot of the reviews are a few years old so keep that in mind too.
Good Luck on you move!

Beware of very inexpensive areas of Winter Park. While one side is really classy, the other side is a dump. Neighborhoods do change from street to street. I live in Orlando, myself. Might I suggest that you also check the Waterford Lakes area? It's in far east Orlando. Very young area with UCF being just north, but there really isn't much college student traffic--except at the shopping centers.
