it listed "obsession, compulsion" as two possible aftereffects CSA (child sexual abuse) and I have a question about the context? like, obsession and compulsion as in OCD? i am curious about this because I am OCD, i know i wasn't ever sex abused but i am curious about the similarities. and to any survivors of sexual abuse i am not trying to compare myself, or say i've been through anything as bad, i just have a question about that one part of it.

no, not really...as i stated, i know i was never sexually abused. my q is as to whether sexual abuse CAN cause OCD, not whether OCD is always the product of sexual abuse, i already know for a fact that it's not.

Sexual abuse and any trauma can lead to obsessive thinking. People may worry that an abuser will return or someone else will hurt them. There is a theory called the diathesis stress theory that explains how mental problems develop. The diathesis-stress model maintains that a person is predisposed to a diagnosis (a diathesis, in this case OCD) and the diagnosis is brought out by some stressful life event (a stressor, the abuse).

But you are correct. Just because you have OCD, that does not mean you were abused.

All I can tell you is that I know my son has never been sexually abused, but he is OCD, and has been since he was a very tiny boy.

Does that help?
