I know it says 99% accurate on the box but please tell me if you used this test and if it was right or not. I just got a positive reading and I'm very happy but don't want to get my hopes up in case it was wrong.

Congratulations! Most pregnancy tests don't show a positive unless you really are pregnant. You have to produce the hormones to get the reading! If you are still unsure, go to the doctor and get them to do another one, or a blood test, then you'll know for sure!

First of all, I am partial to Clearblue Easy...with the exception of having a serum blood pregnancy test done; those are like 100% accurate and can detect even the tiniest amount of pregnancy hormone very early. But what you're describing about your girlfriend--negative pregnancy tests followed by late "periods"--makes me think that she either: a) has just had a very early miscarriage and the Hcg (pregnancy hormone) levels were so low that she got a negative result; or b) something else is going on w/her menstrual cycles that has nothing to do with pregnancy at all. I'd recommend that she call her gynecologist for an appointment and let him or her know about all this, and then go from there.

The general rule with pregnancy tests, is if you read it in the time limit and it is visible from arms length, then CONGRATS you're pregnant!! :) If you're nervous about a false positive, then test with another brand. I personally recommend getting an Equate, or First Response, and if you get a positive on it, try a digital test. You can't deny that!!

False positives ONLY happen if you are taking something with hcg in it, which is unlikely, or if you have a cyst that is producing hcg. People often mistake false positives for early miscarriages (called chemical pregnancies, they often don't last but a week or even just a few days) or evaporation lines.

Good luck!

There is no such thing as a false positive with pregnancy tests...they either detect the hormone or there is no hormone to detect. So if you got a positve reading then congradulations hunny, you're pregnant.

As for the answer above mine...2004 was 3 years ago...the tests have changed since then, gotten better and more sensitive.

You cant get a false-positive unless you were taking fertility drugs OR you were using a digital-read test those (like clearblue) tend to make mistakes and give a false positive so congrats!!!

99 percent so about 1 in 100 are false but there are certain things that you could have eaten or some medicine that you could have taken to alter the results so just in case if you want to do it again or have a doctor do an official one
