The Dell should have a s-video connector in the back. Using a s-video cable connect to the tv's s-video. Then on the computer select Function (fn key) and f4 at the same time. The computer image will appear on the screen. Make sure the TV is set to the Auxiliary Channel that corresponds to the s-video.

It depends on what output connections that particular computer has for video.

It might have a yellow RCA plug for composite video or it might have an S-video multipin round connector. Either one should work with a modern TV.

I am familiar with Toshiba and they have the yellow RCA plug (although some cheaper modern ones skip that).

If the TV has a VGA input socket then a cable from the computer's VGA socket will do it very nicely (just select that input on the TV menu).

Don't forget you need a high quality monitor-grade TV. Otherwise you will go blind trying to read text from the TV screen.

I have a 600m also and do not buy a vga to rca video adapter. Maybe it is just my 600m but it has never worked for me. Best thing to do is to hook up the s-video out on the laptop to the s-video in on the Sony (if it has one). Good luck.

You must buy a video card compatable with TV out. (it is)

Then your TV must be compatible with a laptop. (it is)

Then you must have a hardware device of connecting your tv to your computer. This device is usually offered when buying a laptop from dell and is soldered onto the motherboard.

You can buy an extension similar to this that uses a USB, but it's very expensive.

Then hook your s-video to the TV out and into the back of your Sony tv. Then use the remote and program to start actively transmit signals to the TV.

We need a few more things in order to figure our your problem.

What OS are you running?
Do you have updated drivers for your video card?
Do you have the correct cord? (VGA to RCA, DVI to HDMI, etc?)

Providing any of these would help us in your answer.
