In the US people are more distant with one another. Maybe richer than other countries, but less friendlier ( in my opinion ). In other countries there is more poverty and everyone helps eachother out and have a good time

I can only compare the U.S. to Japan, as it's the only country where I lived outside of the U.S. for a significant length of time (ten years).

In the U.S., strangers are very likely to speak to each other. While waiting in lines at the grocery store, for example, people feel free to make casual conversation with each other.

In the U.S., there are great distances to be covered, and few train lines. Therefore, a car is a necessity. We love our cars, and we like them large, powerful and agile, so as to cope with the distances and sometimes rough roads that we use, as well as often icy surfaces in some states.

Our foods are more varied than other countries, as we have California, Florida and Hawaii to thank for fresh fruits and vegetables of all sorts in OR out of season.

Did I mention that everything is at least an hour away from anyplace, and that you need a car...?

Our topography and geology is highly variable, unlike small countries. We have rain forests, deserts, coastline (deep and shallow), prairies, mesas, piedmont, and mountains, and our climate ranges from sub-tropical to Arctic.

We hate being told what to do...although, less nowadays than formerly.

We don't care if we learn foreign languages or not. After all, the only other language in this part of the world is Spanish; who cares if we know any German? No Germans, here.

We like to drive. A lot.

We like our guns, too, and we admire people who can shoot with great accuracy, and are thrilled with people who can spin a Colt .45 on one finger by the trigger guard.

There is wide variation (and much tolerance) for people who are either different by nature, or aspire to be.

We don't dress for the season; we dress for the weather. There's a huge difference.

I hope this is useful to you.

see i on the other hand think that 90% of this freakin country acts like the reality show people - everyone's focused on themselves, people are gonna do whatever it takes to get where they wanna be. There's a freakin paranoia over 1. Money, 2. Terrorism 3. Racism 4. power/control all over. And as for the so called 'freedom' - that is the biggest fabrication ever, we make a law, and then another law against that law, and then another law to contradict both of those. And then we follow all 3 at the same time, and you happen to break any of them then they'll put you in jail and accuse you of something related to the above 4 things.

ya, that's america in detail. Well, i agree there are certain regions that are better, obviously you can't classify a whole nation under one description and all that - so there are exceptions. But ya, that's pretty much it.

and just to clarify, i am an American too, althou i consider myself to be one of the few percent in this country who are still somewhat sane. I love my country but our president is an imbecil and unfortunatelly so is most of the population.

I've been to Greece and Macedonia. And I can say the U.S. is a way better place to live. There are so many cultures and many varieties of food. And we have more conveniences here than any other country. The only major difference would be that the U.S. is heavy with racism compared to Greece and Macedonia were I saw no racism at all.

Anything you see on a reality show is a complete fabrication. Americans seldom behave as badly as the people featured on these shows. Most Americans watch these shows, but also do not live like characters on Desperate Housewives or The O.C. either, with expensive cars or clothes.

But the pet food aisle at the grocery store is really something to see!

It depends what part of the US you are talking about. California is a socialist state, where Arizona is still the wild-west...

Life here is very stressful and harsh. All the material stuff is affordable but making a living is very hard.
