You have the legal right to go to jail and or prison instead of getting away with all your crimes.
Your held responsible for your actions, unless you go to a psychiatrist and can prove what a horrible childhood you had.

Um...let's see...you can vote, buy cigarettes, sign a legally binding contract, buy a house, rent an apartment, buy a lottery ticket, get credit cards...anything an adult can do (except for buying or consuming alcohol) you can do when you turn 18.

Vote; be bound by contracts; purchase tobacco, rifles, & shotguns; get cut off from support by your parents; obtain most professional licenses; enlist in the military without your parents' approval (you can join at 17 if your parents sign); gamble (although most casinos in the US won't let you on the floor unless you're at least 21); etc.
