I have a few actually. Sandra Brown because her work is mysterious and so suspenseful. Dean Koontz because every page is a twist. Robin McKinley because every word leaves you wanting to know more. There are a few other such as J.K Rowling, J.R.R Tolkien and Anne Rice, but the above three are my favorites.

Don't have one, but Conan Doyle, Clark, Wells, Twain, Tolkien, King, and Crichton are all near what would be the top.

J.R.R. Tolkien tops my list. But it's so hard to narrow it down to just one. I also love Alexandre Dumas, L.M. Montgomery, Jane Austin, and on and on.

Edgar Allen Poe
his writing may be macabre but it is pure prose. No one could string words together better than him.
