Until recently for few days, everything was going smooth in the supply of Milk by Aavin and other branded milk company. Suddenly, with no reason could find it ever, the milk supply in the market seems to be 60%, and 40% deficit occurs, the milk men and the people say. When, I asked personally in a big vegetable market, where daily 1200 trays of milk pockets were selling, now the shop man says, only 500-600 pockets are in supply!! ACTUALLY WHAT IS HAPPENING? AND WE KNOW VERY WELL, THERE WAS NO SUCH BIG NATURAL CALAMITY OCCURED SO FAR, AND WE BECOME SELF-FULFILLED IN 1980s ITSELF IN MILK-SUPPLY TO PEOPLE!
My doubt is, are we going back ward?
Or any under ground work is going on, to raise the prices of the essential commodities, by creating such artificial demands by the anti-social elements supported by some political parties?

It is purely a question of demand and supply theory. Usually milk production peaks immediately after rainy season because of the plenty of available green fodder and slowly the net production tapers as the summer advances. The excess milk produced during the surplus season is usually converted in to milk products like cream, butter, ghee and skim milk powder. This is happening every year. However, this year the scarcity of fluid milk is felt in an acute manner. This may be due to gradual decrease in the number of productive dairy cows since dairying has nowadays become loss making enterprise as for as small and marginal farmers are concerned. Further the price, a milk producer gets from a litre of milk, is far lower @ Rs. 8.50 which is lower than a litre of bottled water. With the advent of IT and other high tech and high paying enterprises, the modern youths are less inclined to opt for veterinary or agricultural courses. Because of these factors, the dairy farming profession has already started going southwards (declining!) and these may be the reasons that are responsible for the shortage of milk supply in Tamil Nadu and soon will be a problem through out India if the situation persists.

There was an article in a newspaper a few months ago that women who drink lots of milk have children with fair and clear skin, also men can perform better.

we all know that people in Tamil Nadu are dark and that the men are lazy, that is the reason for the sudden upsurge in milk demands.

You have answered your own question. I believe this is just an underhand method to raise the price of the milk.

Please check whether any company into the market of Dairy product has been inaugurated recently or the production capacity expanded by existing one. Or otherwise it maybe totally a drama to hike the prices.

It looks the reasons for the scarcity seems to be the export of milk powder. Please refer to this news item.http://www.ndtvprofit.com/homepage/storybusinessnew.asp?template=&whichstory=n&id=36133
