We just bought a house and can continue the protection plan the previous owners had in place. Is it really worth the expense? Should I look at companies other than Terminix? Thanks!

I pay about $160 for Arrow. They do not treat for termite prevention, they just inspect once a year and will fix any damage...more like "termite insurance". Ask your neighbors if they have had any problems in the past with the little buggers. That will give you at least a bit of an indication as to whether or not you should cough up the dough.
Good luck to ya!

Was there a history of infestation at some time?

Termites are everywhere. If the construction of the house and the conditions under the foundation (no cellulose debris, etc.) are up to code and there is no evidence of termites, maybe you don't need the service.

I pay Clark $360/year for insect control. In that plan there is an annual termite inspection included at no additional charge. For that money, I like the comfort of knowing I won't wind up spending thousands to fix termite damage.

I suppose it depends on where you live. Here in the north, we do not have massive termite problems due to the ground freezing and cold winters. I suggest you get two or three estimates from local exterminators and compare the offers.

My experience with terminex was not good! That doesn't mean that you mightnot have got a good and responsible branch of the nationwide company.

I have had experience with two nationwide companys and I believe you get as good service and much less cost with a local service. Ask your neighbors and Real Estate firms to recommend.
I think that 400.00 a year is too much.

sounds like a rip off to me. Do they pay for repairs should you get infested? if so, it might be worth it. if not, forget it.
