I have a Netgear wireless Rangemax 240 WPNT834 Router
I have Verizon DSL.
My modem is a Westell 6100

I have tried multiple times to set this router up and several different people have tried to set this up. No luck

I have tried powercycling it, restarting the network different settings, and everything else i could think of Including restarting the router with the little button on the back.

When I set it up i go exactly by the installation disk. When I am finished it says i am connected. I try to view a web page and it says Page Cannot Be Displayed.
I think my router is bad but i have tried it with 2 different netgears
Any computer techs here?

Verizon DSL authenticates you as a subscriber with a username and password (unlike Comcast cable, which doesn't require a username/password combo to connect). I have seen problems with connecting to Verizon when someone has a modem and router, AND the modem is still holding the username and password for authentication. You might want to try to connect directly to the modem, and change the modem's settings from PPPOE to "Bridge". With this setting, the modem only acts as a conduit, and lets something else (your router) manage the authentication.

With the modem set as a bridge, you can then connect your router back up and connect to it. Now, have the router set to PPPOE and enter your Verizon username and password. Let the router store the username & password, and you should have no problems connecting.

As far as how to set the modem to "bridge", you might want to call Verizon for that--each of their modems is a little different. Good luck!
