I'd like to narrow it down to today, if I may?
I'm attempting to adopt a new philosophy in life, one of Acceptance - that everything happens for a reason, and that everything is exactly as it should be.
This morning (Saturday), when I REALLY wanted to sleep in late, I was up, dressed, and waiting at the Metro bus stop, at 8am, in order to be at a training class for a part-time job by 9am, and freezing my @@@ off. I was thinking, "THIS is how it SHOULD be? THIS is where God wants me to be RIGHT NOW? This sh** ain't right...", all self-pitying, and whatnot...
Then this older guy walks around the corner with his dog, a beautiful German Shepard mix, very alert, bright eyes, and very protective of her owner. I smiled at the sight of the dog, and the owner said to me, "This is my little girl". I said, "Well, she's beautiful!" He smiled at me, and said, "So are you", and walked away.
Crap!
No choice then, but to look upward to God, wink, and say out loud, "Nice touch, playing up to my vanity!!!"

I accidentally left the garbage bagged up in my kitchen and forgot to take it out thurs AM, but my dog didn't eat it! good boy!
