Black women want to be successful. We know as women and black people we have to work twice as hard to get anything so we do. We want our children to have better lives.

There are social restraints that try to set women and black people at a disadvantage. Because of affirmative action and black scholarships, the burden is slightly lifted. However, they, like all women, still have to overcome the social restraints society places on women. It's harder for women to reach total success in our society. It's not because we're weaker; It's because society tries to keep us down.

Our generation, the one currently in college, is easier on black people than previous generations. Now, we should try to be better to women as a whole. Previous generations, however, have been really hard on black people, especially black women, and any black woman who has achieved her goals and pushed away society's discrimination should be applauded. God bless these women who have worked hard because they have derived motivation from a society that doesn't believe in them.

It is in most black women's nature to work hard because we have no choice but to do it all alone. I believe it is a trait that evolves from those of us that have had strong mothers and grandmothers that have shown us what we have to do to survive.

Knowing that we have 2 strikes, 1 being black and 2 being a woman. We have to work twice as hard to get somewhere in life, constantly having to proove that we are just as capable as anyone else. It's also a wonderful feeling to work hard and get to enjoy things in life.

A lot of black women are abandoned by the fathers of their babies, so they have to. In other cases, the man doesn't work, so there again she has to work a lot harder.
