Ask yourself this; what are you afraid of? It can't "get lost", it won't turn you from a virgin to a non-virgin. If you read the directions, take your time, relax (because your vagina has muscles that can be tensed making it difficult to insert the tampon) and get the right size (they have tampons for teens), you should be fine. Try it, if you haven't yet, you have nothing to worry about.

I know its always annoying the first times..but it is way better than nasty fowl smelling pads. I would def recommend using O.B. tampons, they are quite small and you insert it with your finger. I also really like Tampax Pearl, its very smooth. Just relax and breath deep while sitting on the toilet to insert them. After the first few times you should be comfortable. Also, i def recommend that you continue to use pads to sleep at night with. That way you dont leak, and reduce any fears of getting the TSsyndrome!
good luck

i was the same way. and after i put in my first tampon, i realized it was NOT scary at all, and it didnt hurt one bit! i would suggest using playtex slimfits. read the directions, it explains everything! and if you dont get it right the first time, just take it out and try again! i was lucky to get mine in right the first time. really... its NOTHING to be worried about! just make sure you change it every 4-8 hours and its also recommended that you switch between pads and tampons periodically during your period. good luck =] and trust me, you'll be SO glad you switched to tampons!

putting a tampon in is not that hard you just have to be relaxed. just read the instrutions on the paper in the box with the tampons and they will help out.u may feel a lil pain when first putting it in but if u put it in right you wont feel anything!

I'm a nurse. I would buy the smallest ones and read the box, then give it a try. There's more to gain than to lose, go for it. You will be OK. Ask a friend you can trust for assistance or a relative. Take care.

Get over it.
Tampons are WAYYYYYYYYYYYY better.
Don't be scared.
Just do it.
What's there to be scared off? TSS? That normally only happens if you leave it in for a long time.
Just suck it up... my friends are scared of using tampons. And you know what? THEY ALWAYS BLEED THRU! I always wear tampons and I NEVER bleed thru.

try getting some kind of ultra-thin pads. They absorb just as much as the thicker ones, but you can't even feel them. They even make ones especially for thongs.
