I have an emachines. It's about 4 years old. I've had it completely restored twice, the last time being 2 years ago. I have so many important documents, pictures, videos, and my iPod library currently on it and I don't think that I want to have it completely restored again. So is there any way that I can fix it without doing so? Do you know what might be wrong with it? I've kept trying to turn it on all today, earlier it made noises as if it were starting up but it never fully did. It also beeped at me just once. So, I let it sit, now when I press the button, it won't turn on or make any sounds at all; nothing happens. Everything is plugged in properly. I'm not sure what to do. Please help!

(PS, I'm on my other computer that I hardly use incase you were wondering..)

It is better to copy all the documents, images, songs etc on cd/s, dvds and wipe the hard disk and then install all over again. Data on hard disk is not safe.

try this first press and hold power button for 10 seconds then unplug it all and wait one minute then replug it all in and press and hold power button and that should do it your system is been shutdown for so long that theres probably alot of dust in the system see if this is the case if so then unplug for thirty mins bfore u try and cleanit out then only use a soft static free brush and after this id done repower it all up but make sure that the fan is turnung on and spinning b4 u close it all up then if it is then press and hold power till it shuts down and then restart it agaiun and that should do it good luck and email me for more help if u need to

It sounds like the Power supply. I just fixed a computer today that did the same thing. You can buy one for around $15.00 from tigerdirect.com. It is very easy to replace.

There is even a step-by-step guide showing how to replace the power supply on there website.

Good luck!

Sounds like perhaps the power supply has stopped working, so I would suggest taking it to a local computer technician to have that checked.

If it will not turn on at all, you probably need a new power supply. Try replacing the power supply.

e machines are notorious for having bad power supplies. I would say replace the power supply and you should be good to go. (for a while)

It may be the starter button that is broke or the motherboard may need to be replaced/fixed. You need to take it in again.
