Tonic neck reflex - When a baby's head is turned to one side, the arm on that side stretches out and the opposite arm bends up at the elbow. This is often called the "fencing" position. The tonic neck reflex lasts about six to seven months.

It's a normal reflex in newborns.

The tonic neck reflex is also called the "fencing reflex" because of the appearance of the baby's arms. This is when the baby has a strong preference for turning the head in one direction when laying on his back. He will extend the arm in the direction he is looking and pull the other arm in. This reflex goes away by 4 months.
