Any of you familiar with a mystic rose? Math?

If a mystic rose is drawn with 45 straight lines (the lines being diagonals and the sides) how many points (vertices) must be placed around the circle?

10, because then from each vertice there will be 9 lines, but since the lines are counted twice, the total would be (1/2) 10 * 9 = 45
