I would say, considering their horrible treatment of the native people almost everywhere in the New World (e.g., the Incas in Peru, the Aztecs in Mexico, the Tribes in North America.), that the explorers were not particularly motivated to help the native people; they were somewhat interested in converting the natives to Christianity. I am certain that A, B, C, and D were motivations, and I think that F is a cop out...
