We live in a log home. The house is warm in winter and cool in summer. No drafts and very sturdy home. Depending on type of wood or treatment of wood it can be insect and rot resistant. Also, it is really easy to hang pictures.

Here in the USA, timber (wood) is the most prevalent building material used. It is strong, economical, and so far, plentiful. Those are the advantages.

There are really no disadvantages, unless the building is very tall, or designed for uses that a wood (timber) building would not besuited for.

Hope this answers your question.
