Getting straight As doesn't mean you're smart. It only means you can memorize and utilize cognitive recall. My IQ is REALLY up there -- like just short of genius up there. I did a three year med.program in one year. I suffered being dead last in my class with a GPA of 90.63. Would you believe they tried to boot me out of the program just weeks before graduation? Excessive failures at the begining of the program... And the young woman in my class who took the all time high GPA in the history of the school --she missed one question on one exam.? She washed out all together, about three months after having graduated. Didn't have a clue when it came to actually doing the job.
My recommendation is to totally immerse yourself in your studies. Forgo the computer, TV, the stereo (i-pod, etc.) and study, study, study Take about 10-15 minutes rest each hour and then get back into it. So, how badly do you want it?

I don't think anyone can BECOME intelligent. I think intelligence is something you're born with - ie, an IQ.
But you can become learned. And you can study and be book smart.
YOU want to become a straight-A student, and since you clearly aren't right now, you have to work harder. Study, hilight things you need to remember, ask questions when you don't understand. Eat healthy food (it helps you stay focused), especially a good breakfast, and a get a good amount of sleep.
There are two types of straight-A students. There are some, like myself and our current valedictorian, who don't have to work for A's. It just comes naturally. Most people I know who get straight-A's, though? They work their asses off day and night to do it. You just have to commit.

I don't really know, it was just so natural to me........
Nah, just kidding! I find that if you pay attention to everything, try to relate it to yourself so you remember the details of what you're being taught, see everything as an opportunity for learning something, even if it's paying attention to stuff in sit-coms or tv shows. I watch a lot of game-shows where they ask hard questions, because you can remember information in the small bursts they ask the questions in. I read a lot. And I tell myself that everything is interesting, because you pay more attention to the stuff you're interested in than the stuff you find boring. And most important, have a goal and work towards it. If getting straight A's is important for a future career, make a picture of yourself in that career and put it somewhere visible. If you're doing it for someone else, don't bother. I wanted to please my Dad, and got very disheartened when I brought home a straight-A's report card and he said, "It should have been all A+'s, work harder". Do it for yourself and your future, and one day it will all be worth it!
Good luck!

There's a big difference between being intelligent and being book smart, you know. If you want to do well in school, study hard and listen carefully. Intelligence is something only experience can bring you.

You have to CARE!!! Make sure that the teacher knows that you care about your grades and make sure they know that you want to do well. Go to them for extra help (and suck up to them in the process). Study, do all assignments, etc. Try making it a game. When you start a class, see how few points you can miss during the semester. Find something in every subject that INTERESTS you and you will do well!!!

Very simple: if you want to succeed academically, you work your tail off. Studying, hard work, seeking tutoring/extra help when needed... all of these help good students excel. School also needs to be a priority in your life.

A lot of it goes back to your DNA...
Then your drive and ambition to achieve a goal or in this case an "A"....
Hard work and studying doesn't hurt either....Don't be afraid to ask for HELP either...its always out there if you just ASK!!!!

I cannot guarentee that you'll get straight A's, but if you work very hard and you try your very best, you will do well, not only in school, but in life.
