I am 22 weeks pregnant and I have been getting nose bleeds often. I 've never in my life had a problem with them, but I have been advised to use saline solution. (I haven't tried it yet) Any other suggestions?

If your doctor has advised you to use saline, then go for it. If you haven't heard that from your doctor, consult him/her before you put anything into your body, as some chemicals will be absorbed and can cause birth defects.

The nose bleeds are either a result of dryness in your nasal passages, or high blood pressure. If your blood pressure is good, the air in your house may be too dry. Try putting out a bowl of water in your house every night before you go to sleep... just on the table or something. If you're running a furnace, placing the water near (or on, if possible) the furnace will help, as long as you aren't risking fire or something. You can also put a filled tea kittle on the stove and let it come to a boil (fix yourself a cup of decaf tea, while you're at it). You can also run a steamy shower, but watch the temperature since you don't want to alter your body temp too much when you're pregnant. It will take several days, but if dry air is your problem then try the above tricks and see what happens. When all else fails, they do sell humidifiers which will replenish the "water" component in the air in your home. I guess I'm just cheap. You should be saving to buy all those diapers later!

Try using Secaris (a nasal lubricating gel) that can be purchased at your local pharmacy. I had a severe nose bleed in Sept. and the doctor in emerg told me about Secaris. The outside air is dry and it tends to dry out your nasal passages to the point where the veins are too close to the surface in your nostrils.

i heard that pregnant women get nose bleeds a ton, im almost 38 weeks, and i havent had one, my nose just gets really dry, i suggest the saline solution, its safe and all, or you can try a humiderfier like previously suggested if your nose is dry, or a dehumidafier if your nose is moist

I was having the same problem.. My OB said it was something about blood vessels expanding when you are pregnant, which causes them to rupture easily... Anyway, I was getting them a lot around 20-27 weeks.. I am 34 now, and I haven't had one in a long time.. I think it will ease later down the road..

Saline is good, that's what you use for baby as well. A humidifier. And keep up the fluids, hot drinks can really help to open up the sinuses.
