I have been breastfeeding for almost 6 months now and my supply has decreased drastically. I have been trying to get it back up for about a week now and it seems to be coming back a little... but I was wondering why it has decreased. I've been feeling very very tired and have been having some aches and pains, been very gassy (sorry-gross) and also have some cramps now and then.. and an increase in hunger. Anybody have same symptoms while breastfeeding and found out they were prego?? I took a test a day ago and came back negative.. but something doesn't feel right. (still haven't had a vist from Aunt Flo)... any suggestions?! thanks

I fell pregnant while still breastfeeding my daughter. She stopped suddenly at 11 months old, exactly one week after I conceived. I tried everything (vitamins, supplements, compressions, pumping, fluids, etc etc etc), and nothing worked. From your symptoms, it sounds like you might want to get a blood test to be sure. It's pretty normal not to get your period while nursing (for up to a year or more!), so it can be hard to tell when is the right time to take a home pregnancy test.

But if you aren't pregnant, there could be some other reasons for your diminished supply. You didn't mention what you had tried to increase it, so in case there are some things you didn't yet know about, I put a few links at the bottom for ways to increase your supply.

Congratulations if you're pregnant, and good luck increasing your supply if you're not !

I think you should see your doctor! I am also breastfeeding a 9 month old and my cycles are not regular. I have had 2 so far. I have taken alot of tests to make sure.

It's not uncommon to not menstrate while nursing. BUT you are showing symptoms of being 'prego'. See your dr. As for the decrease in milk supply, it is all controlled by supply/demand. The more you nurse, the more milk you have, and vice versa. Best of luck!!

I was " Aunt Flo "free for 6mths. after my first pregnancy. I felt how you're feeling when she finally came to town. Check w/ your doc if you want to be 100% sure.
