i manage a grocery store. its all the manufacturer as most stores operate on a net margin of less than twenty percent. the charges come from two sources. government regulation and petroleum. first, regulation. we get a notice from our dairy each month telling us how much the governemtn tells them to sell milk for. its price supports put in place by liberals like the pelosi ites and surely impedes the free market. transportation. if petroleum keeps going up, you do realize that the company passes it along. virtually every delivery we get now has a fuel charge. again taxes from liberals. see how much tax is added to a gallon of gas and youll understand. and even going to ethanol will reduce the supply of corn and will raise most processed grain prices. its a vicious cycle and hopefully the pelosi ites or those like them in charge will see the fallacy of feel good government regluation and see how much that and tax and spend is costing society as a whole and do something about it. slim chance but nice thought.

Food prices have gone wayyy up over the last 10 years.

You can try eating cheaper foods or going to discount stores.

Cheaper foods are usually better for you anyway. Try eating potatoes for meals instead of ice cream after dinner.

Bread, spaghetti, most carbs you can eat like a king for very cheap. You can get awesome protein from eating beans, mix them with vegetables and stirfry them.

Eat organic oatmeal mixed with raisins and sugar, get it from the bulk section in the health food store rather than buying expensive cereal

When gas went up, prices went up to make up for distribution costs. But when the gas prices went down I wonder why everything that went up - stayed up.

Yep-what used to cost me a hundred bucks is now up to at least 150.00 to 160.00. But that's for two weeks. Still too expensive !

Yes they are, and when the big guys take over the smaller guys, you will have to pay whatever they charge, no alternative..so, please support the smaller shops, they are the oposition, and are keeping prices down in the large shops..but when they are gone, watchout.

who are we to complain--at least we have supermarkets available to us with an abundance of fresh food and supplies.

my brother travelled to Cuba and the stores there didn't even sell nails--he had to reuse the nails from his previous project and hammer them straight.

We are very fortunate for what we have available to us.

That's a wonderful idea. sometimes we do need it after we go to the store. you never know one week to the next what the price of something is going to be.
