I am German Jewish by decent and bloodline. My family are Haulicost survivors. In Public scholl when I was growing up we did not learn much about that time era. It was just a short blurb of information. Now that I am age 37, I want to know more about my own herritage. Here in Alaska its all about the Native Alaskans. But what about my people those german jews. I briefly heard about Anne Frandk though I can't seem to find much. How do I get more on my own harritage. I spent half my life being afraid of being Jewish. Now, I am so sorry I tried to hide my bloodline from the world. I feel like a real heal. I always believed everyone hates us Jews. But how can I ever be true to myself if I run away from who I am or my own people. To all of you who are Jewish I apologize I have dishonared you. Please forgive me. I mean only to come to terms with who I am and be proud of who God created me to be. I was afraid but now, I can nolonger live in fear. I am a Jew. That was hard to so but I am.

I did learn that in history durring WWII the only country or land that accepted and protected the Jews was China. Now of course chinese Jews have a rather hard time leaving the country.
Can any of you maybe tell me a little about Anne Frank and why she is so famous? I mean there are many Haulicost stories, remarkable ones, what makes hers so unique and stand out?

You can order it from any online bookstore, and probably find it at your local bookstore.

As others wrote before me you can get her diary everywhere.
I think she is so famous because her diary makes people understand how innocent children were killed in the Holocaust, although people anyway know the numbers and facts, but they can better understand it in their heart if they read the thoughts and feelings of that girl who had to die just for being Jewish like millions of others. She was a girl with dreams for her life, when she wrote her diary she hoped to survive in her hiding place, she was thoughtful and people just like her and feel for her when they read her diary. I read her diary when I was about same age like she was when she wrote it.
I think her diary is also easier to read for many people than the stories of the Holocaust survivors because she wrote it before she was deported to concentration camps, so it doesn't describe all these horrors.

There are many books about Jews, Judaism, Jewish history, the Holocaust... you should find something if you just ask in some bookstore or library or search at www.amazon.com.

And you don't have to be afraid of being Jewish, it's not true that everyone hates Jews and those who do are morons.
I am German and I had trouble with it because of what the generation of my grandparents did and my own grandparents who looked away like most others, we have something to be ashamed of, you don't.

Her story stands out because she beautifully, eloquently and very emotionally put into words the transition from a happy schoolgirl to absolutely frightened child. She represents the 1.5 million children who endured hell only to be murderered. In some respect she herself is unremarkable - just another child, who would have grown into just another ordinary woman. But she had a book, and a pen, and a family who was able to hid her, who had friends who were able to support her, so she became an eyewitness to history. The fact is, there are very few, if any, accounts that cross the entire period of hell that she went through.

You should not feel ashamed, because you are trying to understand your heritage. This you have to do, or the millions would have died in vain. You should read her diary. If instead of being born in 1969-1970 you were born in 1928, your fate would be been exactly like hers. That alone should drive you to read her book.

BTW, while I'm not jewish I have plenty of friends who are. Not only is there nothing to be ashamed of, they've never experienced any antisemitism that they've told me about (and they would have told me). It makes understanding what happened in WW2 all the more incomprehensible.

Well theres literally thousands of ways to get it..
i'd suggest something like Amazon.com or even ebay if your local library doesn't carry the book. Its a very widely sold book it should be easy to find between all the online stores out there.
